Annette

[Verse 1]
There's a river running cold and clear
Through the canyon where the aspens grow
I was a young man lost back then
With a heart that didn't know where to go
Then in Redstone by the red rock wall
I saw your smile and I gave you my all

[Chorus]
When I had no hope God gave me you
An angel with a heart so true
Through every storm you held on tight
You kept on loving through the night
So light the candles, let it ring
Fifty-eight years, you're everything

[Verse 2]
We raised three children up in Aspen town
Snow on the porch and boots by the door
You were a mama with the gentlest hands
Kind and hard working, giving more
Six years in Texas under endless skies
Annette, I saw heaven in your eyes

[Chorus]
When I had no hope God gave me you
An angel with a heart so true
Through every storm you held on tight
You kept on loving through the night
So light the candles, let it ring
Fifty-eight years, you're everything

[Bridge]
Twenty-three years of saying I do
Hard times came, but God saw us through
You never once let go of my hand
Loving me when I could barely stand

[Verse 3]
Now we're home in Denver, your hometown
Mountains keeping watch the way they do
Annette, my wife, my answered prayer
Every blessing I have leads to you
So here's my wish on this birthday night
May peace and joy hold you tight

[Chorus]
When I had no hope God gave me you
An angel with a heart so true
Through every storm you held on tight
You kept on loving through the night
So light the candles, let it ring
Happy birthday, Annette, you're everything

[Outro]
When I had no hope God gave me you
Happy birthday, angel, I still do
